Transcendental Meditation (TM)

What is the Transcendental Meditation technique?
Transcendental Meditation is a simple, natural, effortless procedure practiced 20 minutes twice each day while sitting comfortably with the eyes closed. It is not a religion, philosophy, or lifestyle, and is the most widely practiced, most researched, and most effective method of self-development available in the world today.
What happens when you meditate?
Transcendental Meditation allows the mind to settle within, to experience the source of thought — pure awareness, transcendental consciousness. This is the most silent and peaceful level of consciousness — your innermost Self. The experience of Transcendental Consciousness develops one’s latent creative potential, while dissolving accumulated stress and fatigue through the deep rest gained during the practice. This experience enlivens within one’s awareness creativity, dynamism, orderliness, and organizing power, resulting in increasing effectiveness and success in daily life.
Is there any scientific research on the Transcendental Meditation technique?
Over the last thirty-five years there have been over 600 research studies, published in more than 120 scientific and educational journals by scholars at over 200 universities in 30 countries around the world. The scientific significance of this approach to mind-body health has been recognized by the National Institutes of Health of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, which in the late 1990’s funded research at the Institute for Natural Medicine and Prevention at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, USA. Maharishi University of Management has received more than $20 million in research funding from the U.S. government over the past twenty years to study Maharishi’s Vedic Approach to Health.
During Transcendental Meditation, the mind spontaneously and naturally settles to its source, an unbounded ocean of pure consciousness. This is the least excited state of human awareness, which is also the Unified Field of Natural Law, the most fundamental level of Nature’s functioning. During the TM-Sidhi Programme, one learns to function from this level of intelligence, spontaneously allowing the conscious mind to become conversant with that level of intelligence from where all the Laws of Nature function. The result is the unfoldment of the total potential of Natural Law in the awareness, enabling one to think right, to do right, and to spontaneously act in accord with Natural Law.
Scientific research has shown that the TM-Sidhi programme, including Yogic Flying, accelerates the personal growth that comes from the practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique. This includes enhanced development of creativity, learning ability, positivity, physical health, and psychological well-being. EEG measurements taken during Yogic Flying show a dramatic increase in brain wave coherence that coincides with the body lifting up from the ground.
